June 21, National Aboriginal Day is once again upon us and with it comes another opportunity for everyone to give thought to the impact Aboriginal Peoples have had on the history of Canada – and also what impact history has had on Aboriginal Peoples. The day was first proclaimed by the Governor General in 1996 as a way to remind Canadians of the contributions and achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. The solstice day was chosen not only because it is the longest of the year, but also because it is a day that First Peoples have been celebrating for thousands of years.

Greetings,

I'm happy to let you know the AEC approved a national summer campaign earlier this month, to be held under the theme "We Are All Affected". The campaign, which will launch officially next week, is designed to promote the value of federal public services and is very similar to what we've been doing here in BC over the last few summers with our "Think Public" campaign.
