PSAC negotiates wages and working conditions for employees in almost 150 Locals and in hundreds of workplaces in our region. See below for national and regional updates.

After a long wait, the TC Bargaining Team will appear before a Public Interest Commission (PIC) on November 13-15, 2012, to present our outstanding bargaining issues.Treasury Board will do the same, and both parties will respond to each other's submissions.This marks the first time PSAC will present to a Public Interest Commission under the Public Service Labour Relations Act, which came into effect in April, 2005.

From October 11-12, 2012 your Bargaining Team went over the numerous demands you submitted for positive improvements to your collective agreement. This followed with a General Membership meeting held by your Local, UPCE 20095, on October 13, 2012, which included Janelle Ho-Shing, PSAC Negotiator.We have served Notice to Bargain to Purolator Inc. on October 18, 2012. Dates for bargaining will soon be set. Once bargaining begins, your team plans to provide regular updates after each session.

PSAC has asked the Public Service Labour Relations Board to mediate its four year dispute with Parks Canada over which positions are deemed « essential » in the case of a strike or lockout.According to the Public Service Labour Relations Act both sides are supposed to come to an agreement on which services need to be provided to ensure the safety of the public in the event of a work stoppage.

Public Service Labour Relations Board has set dates for November and DecemberFiling for conciliationAs per the Public Service Labour Relations Act, the FB Bargaining Team filed for conciliation earlier this year when it became clear that the employer was not prepared to seriously address our issues, including those concerning parity with other federal enforcement workers. In June, we returned to the table for three days and made no progress whatsoever in talks with Treasury Board/CBSA.

We have presented our package of bargaining proposals to CRA. In presenting our package we made it clear to management that our union is determined to achieve new protections and rights in this round of bargaining, rights and protections that in many areas reflect what has already been agreed to for other unionized workers in the federal public sector.

Last weekend members who work at Purolator Inc. from local UPCE 20095 educated themselves on their union, the collective bargaining process, discussed work place issues, and elected their bargaining team. Your bargaining team members are Joanne Hay, Karen Hirst, Amanda Dawe, and Sandra Jewitt as an alternate.

BackgroundThe FB bargaining team returned to the bargaining table in June 2012. No progress was made as CBSA/Treasury Board continued to insist on concessions and rejected our call for parity with other federal enforcement workers under the Ministry of Public Safety.As per federal law, the FB bargaining team subsequently contacted the Public Service Labour Relations Board this spring when negotiations reached impasse
