PSAC negotiates wages and working conditions for employees in almost 150 Locals and in hundreds of workplaces in our region. See below for national and regional updates.

Specific regional bargaining updates

July 18, 2012 - 11:00am •
Steady progress is being made to put the outstanding issues at the TC bargaining table before a Public Interest Commission.PSAC and Treasury Board have agreed on a chairperson for the PIC, and have both named their sidespersons. All of these individuals have now been formally appointed by the Public Service Labour Relations Board, and have been tasked with identifying mutually agreeable dates to meet.

On July 3, PSAC started the process of negotiating a new collective agreement with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).  The union sent a notice to the Agency that we want to bargain changes to the current agreement that ends on October 31, 2012.

More progress has been made during recent weeks in the development of new occupational group structure for current PA bargaining unit members.This work brings us closer to the day when actual reform of the outdated classification standards at Treasury Board can begin.

VICTORIA– Negotiations between the Public Service Alliance of Canada, bargaining agent for workers at VictoriaAirport, and the Airport Authority have broken off.“The employer has made it clear in no uncertain terms that they want to create a second class employee at the workplace”, says Bob Jackson, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President for BC. “We have been forced to seek the assistance of a Federal Conciliation Officer in an attempt to achieve a negotiated settlement.”

PSAC resumed negotiations with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Mar. 13. Union members and supporters are wearing black in the workplace, to protest against impending cuts to food inspection, the employer's lack of respect for administrative staff and the CFIA's unwillingness to bargain for a fair contract.

Negotiations for a new collective agreement between the TC bargaining team and Treasury Board have broken off.  Your Union will be referring pay and other outstanding issues to a conciliator.The talks came to an end after Treasury Board insisted there was no money for TC members beyond the so-called “pattern settlement” – and then added insult to injury with a demeaning response to some of the Union’s proposals on retention and recruitment allowances.

The PSAC bargaining team met the employer this week to once again press your demands for improved job security language and related issues. Here's what happened:Parks Canada told us “a richness of protection” already exists in the collective agreement and we have no need for improved job security language.But Parks also asked for more time at the table to review the proposals. Without negotiating them, naturally.

Your Bargaining Team resumed negotiations with Treasury Board from January 31st through February 2nd, our sixth  session of contract talks since initially exchanging proposals in April, 2011.Due to illness, the Treasury Board negotiator has been replaced by an individual who bargained the PA collective agreement with PSAC during the expedited round in the fall of 2010.
