PSAC negotiates wages and working conditions for employees in almost 150 Locals and in hundreds of workplaces in our region. See below for national and regional updates.

Specific regional bargaining updates

Your bargaining team met with the employer for the first time on February 20th and 21st.  We exchanged bargaining proposals and then spent some time walking through those proposals.  This provided both parties the opportunity to briefly explain the intent behind their proposals.The union and employer proposals are available at www.local20221.com

Prince George, BC– The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) are pleased to announce a new collective agreement has been ratified by both parties.Prince George Airport Authority President and CEO John Gibson says “the PGAA and our local staff have a great working relationship and that is why we were able to get an agreement prior to the expiry of the existing agreement.”

After spending some days looking at your input and going through your collective agreement, your bargaining team put together a full package of proposals to renew your collective agreement. And we then sat down with the employer to begin negotiations. We spent three days with them to start the process of getting you a better agreement.

PSAC/UTE Bargaining Team continues push for leave improvements, raises issues concerning health and safety and union communication in the workplace.This past week (January 28-31) our Bargaining Team spent four days in talks with CRA.  The parties spent the week in negotiations over a number of issues, including leave provisions, access to the collective agreement and union communication in the workplace.

The Public Interest Commission (PIC) has released the TC report and recommendations, following the November 13-15 hearings.The TC bargaining team is now in the process of analyzing this report and determining next steps, namely whether the recommendations will lead to a return to the bargaining table, or if the team will ask members for a strike mandate.

The New Year will bring on your bargaining!We are still awaiting bargaining dates to be finalized with Purolator Inc.As soon as dates are set we will notify the membership and ask you to show your support for your bargaining team. We are still working on the package of demands and have not yet exchanged these demands with the employer.Don’t forget…Even though the current collective agreement expired on December 31, 2012, you have protections in your collective agreement.

Your PSAC bargaining team has reached a tentative agreement with Parks Canada Agency.This package includes salary increases identical to our PA, SV, and EB settlements: 1.75, 1.5 and 2% over three years, with retroactivity.Like others negotiated by PSAC, the Parks agreement also includes additional monetary improvements that benefit a significant number of members:

The TC bargaining team made its submissions on its outstanding bargaining proposals before a Public Interest Commission in Ottawa on November 13-15, 2012.TC members underpaidYour team told the Commission that TC members are already underpaid according to a joint pay study done by the Employer and the Union in 2007-2008, and shouldn’t be put in a worse economic situation because of the significant concession the Employer is demanding on cessation of severance pay for voluntary departures.
