Refuses to implement Supreme Court OrderA year ago this coming November 17, the Supreme Court ordered Canada Post to implement a Canadian Human Rights Tribunal Order that it provide pay equity payments to thousands of employees and retirees who had been underpaid for decades.This should have ended a 30 year battle for equity and justice.But Canada Post is refusing to implement that order and is delaying payments to those who desperately need it.

These vigils are meant to honour the more than 600 Aboriginal women that have been murdered or gone missing and to keep their memories alive. They are also meant to draw public attention to this horrific violence as a way to help end the assaults on native women.

In Canada, women have the right to control over their own bodies. Now, a Conservative MP's motion could put serious limits on women's reproductive rights.MP Stephen Woodworth's motion M-312 calls for a special Parliamentary committee to review the definition of “human being” in the Criminal Code of Canada. If passed, the motion could undermine a woman's constitutional right to security of the person once she becomes pregnant.

BC Women hit the floor at convention.  Last convention - women's issues did not get debated and it was great this year when women had a voice! Convention was emotional with Public Service Cuts announced on Monday Apr 30th, marching to Parliament Hill in protest on Tuesday May 1st, and

Women have fought for equity for many years. Now, we are faced with huge job cuts in the public service and those cuts clearly hurt women. Each year around the world, International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. Thousands of events occur not just on this day but throughout March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. The theme for IWD in 2012 is Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures.If every International Women's Day event held in 2012 includes girls in some way, then thousands of minds will be inspired globally.
