We Can End All Violence Against Women believes we can challenge the attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate violence against women every day. But we also recognize projects like 16 Days of Activism, which shine a light on gender-based violence and ways to combat it in a targeted 16-day campaign, recognized worldwide.

Welcome to November – the year has just flown by. The work of the Women’s Committees continues and I encourage you to join the committee in your area. Currently committees are in Vancouver, Victoria, Okanagan, and Prince George. I hope to see some of you at the National Equity Conference this month in Toronto.

This is a call out to PSAC equity activists (Aboriginal Peoples, Racialized Workers, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Trans Members, and Members with Disabilities), Regional Women's Committee members, and Young worker activists (30 or younger) to participate in the upcoming Treasury Board units and Parks National Bargaining Conferences

Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s Victoria Regional Womens’ Committee have been working on a plan to erect a memorial to the victims of the École Polytechnique Massacre.The Montreal Massacre, as it is also known, resulted in the deaths of 14 women on Dec. 6,1989. The anniversary of this tragic event is commemorated every year in Canada as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Today my city lost a great activist.  Not a union activist but a strong voice for people with disability.  Our family was helped by his activism even before we met him.  He ensured that our school district kept speech therapy for children which my son greatly benefited from.

Ottawa – The Public Service Alliance of Canada and Canada Post have signed a memorandum of agreement that will see long-awaited pay equity cheques begin to be issued in August.“PSAC started this process in 1983 with a complaint to the Canadian Human Rights Commission and has stuck with it through literally hundreds of days of Tribunal hearings and numerous court battles,” says PSAC national president Robyn Benson.  “Now the members are finally going to get what they have deserved for so long.”
