The best line of the Trudeau government’s first day— widely reported and praised in the international media—was the new PM’s.  In response to a reporter’s question about why he’d chosen to create a gender-parity cabinet, he rather matter of factly observed “because it’s 2015”.  This ostensibly simple statement summed up a complexity of attitudes, beliefs and even world views in three words.

This is an exciting time to be part of the Vote Child Care 2015 campaign! With the hard work of activists and advocates, parents, ECEs and community members from across Canada, we see child care and family policy becoming a key election issue.  Now we build momentum. The goal of the Vote Child Care 2015 campaign is to firmly make child care an election issue, and take action to ensure the next federal government delivers universal, quality child care that is affordable for all families in Canada.

PSAC members have much to be proud of: our union has led the path for women’s equality and human rights for the last 35 years. This International Women’s Day, we celebrate our members and the victories we’ve won for women.

This is a call out to PSAC equity activists (Aboriginal Peoples, Racialized Workers, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Trans Members, and Members with Disabilities), Regional Women's Committee (RWC) members, and Young worker activists (30 or younger) to participate in the upcoming Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) National Bargaining Conference.The CFIA National Bargaining Conference will take place January 26-28, 2015 at the Marriott Residence Inn, Ottawa.

A permanent reminder of the tragic events of Dec. 6, 1989, was unveiled Saturday at Holland Point Park, and the brother of one of the victims was there to see it, thanks to the efforts of PSAC's Victoria Regional Women's Committee.
