Vancouver - The British Columbia Federation of Labour and the Public Service Alliance of Canada are sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Park in Surrey on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.This year, December 6th marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal.

Victoria - The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women’s Committee is sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Park in Victoria on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.This year, December 6th marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal.  The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women’s Committee and the City of Victoria will unveil a permanent memorial to their memory.

The Conservative government’s income splitting and other tax proposals would do nothing to help the vast majority of Canadian families and would remove more than $4.6 billion a year from government revenue that could be used to fund a universal child care system.The government announced today that it would allow the higher-earning parent of children up to 18 years of age to transfer as much as $50,000 of income to the lower-earning spouse for tax purposes.
