Over the last several months we have been subjected to ultimatums, attempts to circumvent the bargaining process, final offers and even a forced vote that was found to be non-compliant with federal labour law. In the meantime, Treasury Board meets with employees of other federal law enforcement agencies and agrees to settlements that address issues and provide for superior compensation. It then tried to keep one of those settlements secret from us.

This is a call out to PSAC equity activists (Aboriginal Peoples, Racialized Workers, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Trans Members, and Members with Disabilities), Regional Women's Committee members, and Young worker activists (30 or younger) to participate in the upcoming Treasury Board units and Parks National Bargaining Conferences

Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s Victoria Regional Womens’ Committee have been working on a plan to erect a memorial to the victims of the École Polytechnique Massacre.

The Montreal Massacre, as it is also known, resulted in the deaths of 14 women on Dec. 6,1989. The anniversary of this tragic event is commemorated every year in Canada as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

PSAC members won an important victory today in defence of collective bargaining. The government tried but failed to circumvent the bargaining process by forcing FB members to vote on an offer that was not agreed to at the bargaining table.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees, representing workers employed directly by the Vancouver Airport Authority, are happy to announce that a tentative agreement has been achieved with the Vancouver Airport Authority. There will be no delays or labour disruptions at the airport.

The tentative agreement was reached late Thursday night with the assistance of a federal mediator, after two days of eleventh-hour negotiations.

It's Labour Day and as hard working Canadians across the country celebrate with their families, it comes as no surprise that the Canadian Taxpayers Federation is once again using the occasion to attack and denigrate public sector workers.
